Castle Lakes is in a beautiful, peaceful forest setting at 9200 feet above sea level. We have 41 acres, half of which is our 2 pristine lakes (bring your fishing gear). There are 50 camping/RV sites and 12 sleeping accommodations. General store, pool tables, sitting area and video games. Now a WiFi hot spot! Clean restrooms and showers. Coin operated laundry. VCR/DVD library; no-charge usage. Playground and horseshoe pits. Onsite fishing; no state license required. Pavilion for gatherings. Campfire rings at most cabins and RV/tent sites. Jeep rentals onsite.
Directions: Go 2 miles south of Lake City on Hwy 149. Turn on Cinnamon Pass Rd (County Rd 30). We are 4 miles past Lake San Cristobal.

Local Interest: National Park or Monument: 60 minutes drive. National Forests & BLM lands: walking distance. Museum: 20 minutes. Historic District or site: 20 minutes drive. Ghost town: 30 minutes drive. Designated scenic/historic byway: along the scenic byway. Restaurant: 20 minutes drive. Fishing tackle: Sold on-site. Fishing in lake: on-site, no state license req., $7.00 a day per person (any age). No swimming or watercraft allowed in lakes. Fishing in river, stream or creek: 5 minutes drive. Horseback riding: 10 minutes drive. ATV & dirt bike trails: out the gate. Mine tours: 30 minutes drive. Mountain bike trails: trails start on-site. Mountain bike rentals: 20 minutes drive. Mini golf: 20 minutes drive. Hiking: (5) 14,000' peaks within 10 miles. Horseshoe pits: on-site. Jeep rentals on-site: Rent a 4 or 5 passenger jeep here for a full or half day adventure. View the American Basin full of incredible wildflowers on the Alpine Loop National backcountry byway to Silverton over Cinnamon Pass. Stop and visit ghost towns along the way and return over Engineer's Pass back to Lake City for a trip you will never forget.
