Just for Fun
In this age of technology, where we’re all constantly connected to our electronic devices, a road trip can be a great time to relax, slow down and spend some quality time interacting with family and friends, face-to-face.
On your next camping trip, rediscover what it’s like to enjoy some good old-fashioned fun. Pull out classic games like chess, checkers, backgammon and cribbage. Or bring out your family’s favorite board games from the past.
Games are great because you can play them with old friends or use them as a fun way to “break the ice” and make new ones. You can start a game that lasts an hour or one that lasts all weekend - stopping and starting as it fits your schedule.

Washers - Two to Four Players
Washers, washoes, Texas horseshoes, holey board or washer toss are a few of the names for the traditional American backyard game of skill. Whatever you like to call it, it's a fun way to pass time while camping and having fun with family and friends. From washer pits on the beaches and in backyards, to “portable” washer boards, you can set it up anywhere. Ladder Ball - Two to Four Players
Commonly a backyard or campground toss game known as Ladder Golf, Bolo Toss, Boloball or Hillbilly Golf. Some speculate that the game may have originated as early as the 1900's and believe the bola is a stand-in for a live snake, which cowboys in the western United States used to throw at fences or branches for points.
The game is played with two or more players or teams. Each player has 3 golf ball bolas. A bola is two golf balls attached by a nylon rope. The object of the game is to wrap your bolas around the rungs of the ladder. The ladder consists of 3 rungs, a top, middle and a bottom rung. Get the full rules.
