    Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum
    Combing scholarship and showmanship, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in downtown Springfield, Illinios communicats the amazing life and times of Abraham Lincoln in unforgettable ways.

    Adler Planetarium
    The Adler Planetarium seeks to inspire the next generation of explorers and scientist.  The Adler;s educational offerings – from interactive demonstrational to graduate level coursework – are designed to equip participants with the skills and desire to learn more about the universe.

    The Field Museum

    The field museum was incorporated in the state of Illinois on September 16, 1893 as the Columbian museum of Chicago with its purpose the “accumulation and dissemination of knowledge and the preservation and exhibition of objects illustrating art, archaeology, science and history.”  In 1905 the museum’s name was changes   to Field Museum of Natural History to honor the Museum's first major benefactor, Marshall Field, and to better reflect its focus on the natural sciences. In 1921 the Museum moved from its original location in Jackson Park to its present site on Chicago Park District property near downtown where it is part of a lakefront Museum Campus that includes the John G. Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. These three institutions are regarded as among the finest of their kind in the world and together attract more visits annually than any comparable site in Chicago.

    Shedd Aquarium
    Strap a mask and flippers onto your imagination and chart a course to shed aquarium.  Have you ever gotten eye-to-eye with a shark?  Or followed a sea turtle as she soared through the Caribbean?  Or immersed yourself in an Amazon flooded forest?  At shed, it’s all possible.  We engage and inspire, entertain and inform. We are a virtual teaching and learning resource, conservation leader, neighborhood partner and global collaborator. We are passionate about our animals, their habitats and the planet we share.

    Sears Tower
    The sears tower stands tall, over 17,000 feet aloft overlooking the west side of Chicago’s downtown loop.  Sears tower is a distinguished landmark and has become the destination for millions of tourist and thousands of Chicagoans.

    Brookfield Zoo
    Sense the opening of Brookfield zoo in 1934, the society has had a international reputation for taking a cutting edge role in animal care and conservation of the natural world.  Among its historical firsts are indoor multispecies exhibits, zoo nutrition residencies, methods for animal husbandry and medical care that includes successful brain surgery for a gorilla. 

    Illinois and Michigan NationalHeritage Corridor
    The Illinois and Michigan canal, completed in 1848, connected the great lakes to the Mississippi river watershed along a long standing Indian portage route.  The 97 mile canal extended from the Chicago river near lake Michigan to the Illinois river at Peru Illinois.  It rapidly transformed Chicago from a small settlement to a critical transportation hub between the East and the developing Midwest. The towpath trail along the canal is a State park that runs through a rural and wooded landscape linking a number of towns laid out by the original canal commission.

    Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago
    One of the nation’s largest facilities devoted to the art of our time, the museum of contemporary art (mca) offers exhibitions for the most thought-provoking art created sense 1945.  The MCA documents contemporary visual culture through painting, sculpture, photography, video and film and performances.  Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, the MCA boasts a gift store, bookstore, restaurant, 300-seat theater, and a terraced sculpture garden with a great view of Lake Michigan.

    The Morton Arboretum is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to the planting and conserving of trees.
