Explore America

If you really want to see the best of what our great country has to offer, there’s nothing quite like hitting the open road and heading out on a camping adventure.

It’s your chance to slow down the pace of your day-to-day life and focus on what really matters: reconnecting with your family and creating new memories together as you make new friends from across the U.S. Camping lets you explore little known out-of-the-way places, meander down scenic roads and discover natural wonders you never knew existed. It opens up a whole new world you wouldn’t be able to visit any other way. Whether you’re an experienced camper who has traveled from coast to coast, or you’re just starting to test the waters, you’ll find the ideal park or campground on GoCampingAmerica.com.

No equipment? No problem. Many of our parks offer furnished cabins and park models to make it easy for you to get back to nature and enjoy more of our beautiful country than you ever have before.

Spotlight On: Eagle’s Rest RV Parks & Cabins, Valdez, Alaska

Eagle's Rest is really much more than just a place to park your RV — it’s your gateway to the ultimate Alaskan adventure. Located in the heart of picturesque Valdez on Alaska’s southern coast, the park boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding Chugach Mountains and pristine bay of the Prince William Sound.

The park offers a choice of over 187 RV sites fully-equipped with electricity, water, sewer and cable hookups; open tent sites situated in a large grassy area and 18 cozy cabins, each with its own kitchen area equipped with a microwave and fridge, bathroom, TV, heater and cozy front deck. Full service landromat and shower and bath facilities for guests’ use are also conveniently located onsite.

The campground is conveniently located within walking distance of everything in Valdez including a variety of bars, restaurants, museums, and shops. The harbor front and fishing docks are filled with activity and is a great place to check out the day’s catch and get a preview of what just might be in store for you the next day.

One of the very best things about the park is the friendly environment. The owners are warm and welcoming and so are the campers. Many of the campers stay at Eagle’s Rest year after year, giving it a real “community” feel and a nice home away from home. Most are there for the great fishing, and Eagle’s Rest makes their experience easier. The RV park conveniently books halibut and salmon fishing charters right from the front desk. And if you’re fishing on your own, the park has a fish processing and cleaning area you can use, as well as a deep freezer where you can keep the day’s catch fresh. For those not into fishing, the front desk is a one-stop shop for booking other adventures like glacier tours, helicopter tours and rafting trips. There’s something for everyone.

Between the welcoming atmosphere, the convenient location, the stunning views and the glimpses of wildlife, a trip to Alaska and a stay at Eagle’s Rest will deliver everything you always hoped and imagined an Alaskan experience would be.

Spotlight On: Red Apple Campground, Kennebunkport, Maine

“Clean, quiet, and relaxing — the way camping should be.” That’s what Red Apple Campground promises — and that’s exactly what they deliver. The campground offers 140 large, grassy sites scattered throughout 15 meticulously-manicured acres landscaped with grass, flowers, bushes and trees. Every site is equipped with a picnic table and fire pit and all of the RV sites are easy to navigate, with plenty of room to accommodate any size rig. If you’re tent camping, you can find a great grassy spot set back in the trees, or if you’re not equipped to “camp,” you can stay in one of the fully-appointed park model RV’s or cabins available for rent.

You’ll feel right at home the minute you arrive with a warm welcome by the owners, David and Jane Berg, and their dog Rocky. Red Apple Campground offers many conveniences like a 24-hour laundromat, a newly-remodeled heated and air-conditioned bath house with free hot showers, free park wide WiFi and even complimentary coffee in the office every morning. There are also plenty of recreational amenities to enjoy like basketball, shuffle board, volleyball, horseshoes, a large grassy play area and a recreation hall with multiple flat screen TVs, board games and foosball. There’s even a coin-operated pool table with all proceeds thoughtfully going to the Maine Children’s Cancer Fund.

The campground is conveniently located close to beautiful beaches and the charming seaside community of Kennebunkport which offers a variety of unique shops, galleries and restaurants to explore. Before you hit the town, make sure to check with David and Jane for advice on the best places to shop and eat — they are committed to making sure your stay is a pleasurable one. They’ll book you a table at a restaurant of your choice, reserve theater tickets, and help you plan an excursion or, if you don’t have a car, they can get you a ride into town so you won’t have to fight the traffic or look for a parking space. They’ll even deliver hot steamed “lobstah” right to your campsite, fresh from the docks that morning. There’s nothing like lobsters and s’mores to make a camping experience unique. Red Apple Campground is absolutely right — this is the way camping should be!
