Stay Connected to Your Fellow RVers Even When You’re Apart

In these times of social distancing, it’s only natural to miss getting together with your fellow campers. But there are many ways you can still stay connected, even when you’re apart. Here are a few fun ideas:

Play Online Games – On Jackboxgames.com you can purchase your choice of games such as trivia games or word games, put them on your laptop, then use a videoconferencing service like Zoom or Google Hangouts to invite others to play along on their own devices. You can also check your app store for multiplayer games like Scrabble.

Host Virtual Happy Hours – You can also use a videoconferencing program to host a virtual happy hour on a regular basis so you can see – and raise a toast to – your friends while you catch up on what’s happening in their lives.

Watch a Movie Together – Install Netflix Party on your laptop and you can watch a movie at the same time as your friends while you talk about it in a group chat.

Have a Virtual Talent Show – Schedule a time and invite your friends to join in on a videoconference where they can share their favorite talents like singing, playing music, drawing, baking or more. Your friends just may surprise you with their hidden talents!

Organize a Virtual Potluck Dinner – Again, through the magic of videoconferencing, have your friends share what they’re making for dinner that night.

Exercise Together – Many experts say that it’s easier to stay fit when you work out with a buddy, so why not exercise with several of your friends? Find someone in your group who can lead the others in simple workout routine, yoga moves or other activities.

If you’re lucky enough to be staying at an RV park right now, here are a few more fun things you can do:

Teddy Bear Hunts – Encourage your fellow RVers to place a teddy bear or other stuffed animal in their window so kids can have fun spotting them (from a safe distance, of course) as they walk through the park.

Get Crafty – Make signs of encouragement to hang in your window or write inspirational messages on the road near your site using sidewalk chalk. Or write positive messages on rocks and place them along the road or walkways for others to find.

Play Games – Old-school games like Farkle, Hand and Foot and Shanghai Rummy are new again and a fun way to pass the time while you’re sheltering in place in your RV. Learn more at GoCampingAmerica.com/just-for-fun.

We’re all looking forward to the day when the crisis will pass and we can all socialize in person once again. But in the meantime, there are so many creative ways to stay connected. We’d love to hear about your favorite ideas. Post your photos using the hashtag #gocampingamerica and have fun!
