Louisiana Camping

Camping in Louisiana allows you to explore a wide variety of climates, local culture and attractions, including:

Louisiana Cajun Country Camping

The Louisiana Cajun Country (more formally known as Acadiana) stretches from just west of New Orleans to the state line at the west along the Louisiana Gulf of Mexico Coast to the south and about 100 miles inland to the north. Explore an area steeped "French Louisiana" history, arts, food and culture. Vermilionville showcases the rich traditions and proud heritage of the Acadian settlers of the 18th century with authentic homes and exhibits. The Southdown Plantation House/Terrebonne Museum traces the history of sugar industry and features the 21-room manor home of the Minor family. Louisiana Crossroads Camping

The Louisiana Crossroads region (also known as Central Louisiana) is defined by its physical and cultural diversity, where bayous wander through swamps, which give way to piney hill country, large prairies and lush deciduous woodlands. It is a land of pristine, sand-bottom streams and large rivers. The Alexandria-Pineville area combines the hospitality of northern Louisiana with the "Let the Good Times Roll" attitude of southern Louisiana. Split by the Red River, the cities share Riverpark and easy access to the recreations of Kisatchie National Forest. The Natchitoches area is the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase Territory and makes a great "home base" to explore the beautiful Cane River National Heritage Area, the historic Fort St. Jean Baptiste, Rebel State Park, the Louisiana Country Music Museum and much more. Louisiana Plantation Country Camping

The Louisiana Plantation Country is home to the state capital of Baton Rouge, where a melting pot of arts and culture, tasty cuisine and a thriving music scene makes for a prime destination along the Mississippi River. Tour Antebellum plantations, visit the Capitol and see the abundant wildlife of the bayous. Donaldsonville, the former state capital, features the celebrations of the Sunshine Festival, the art of Alvin Batiste and much more. St. Francisville offers a glimpse into the past at Catalpa Plantation, the Cottage Plantation, Greenwood Plantation and the reputedly-haunted Myrtles Plantation, plus outdoor recreation, shopping, dining and more.
