Northern Kentucky Camping

Northern Kentucky offers a unique combination of big city excitement and the laid-back charm of the countryside's rolling hills along three sub-regions. In the Northern Kentucky River Region you'll be right across the bridge from the big city attractions and professional sports of Cincinnati while enjoying the more rural offerings of the area such as the horse racing at Turfway Park, the NASCAR racing at Kentucky Speedway, the outdoor recreation of Big Bone Lick State Park, plus arts, entertainment, museums and events. The Northern Kentucky Bluegrass Region is set near the heart of the state and features the heritage and recreation of Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, the state history and activities of the State Capital at Frankfort, and the "Horse Capital" city of Lexington and the wonderful historic buildings of Richmond. Western Kentucky Camping

Western Kentucky is composed of two sub-regions. The Bluegrass, Blues, and Barbecue Region offers a distinct heritage of food and music. Visit the Birthplace of Bill Monroe, Bluegrass music legend, the International Bluegrass Music Museum and home to the "City of the Blues" (and home to legendary Bluesman W.C. Handy) in Henderson. You'll also enjoy the fishing & boating of Lake Beshear, golf courses, historic sites and more. The Kentucky Western Waterlands, as its name implies, is famous for the water recreation of its lakes and rivers. The combined areas of Kentucky Lake, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world, and Lake Barkley offers recreation on almost 2400 miles of shoreline and 160,000 acres of clear water. Enjoy the fishing and boating opportunities of the water and easy access to the golf courses, historic sites, shopping and dining to be found in the Land Between the Lakes and beyond. Eastern Kentucky Camping

Eastern Kentucky is home to two distinct sub-regions. The Kentucky's Appalachians is defined by its outdoor adventures and mountain hospitality: Enjoy the fishing, boating, canoeing, white water rafting, golf courses, hiking and other outdoor adventures of Ashland, Russell Fork River, Cave Run Lake, Grayson, Yatesville Lake, the Daniel Boone National Forest, Paintsville Lake, Fishtrap Lake and Jenny Wiley State Park. The Daniel Boone Country offers a chance to explore and enjoy the outdoor recreation of Buckhorn Lake, Carr Creek, Cumberland Falls, Kingdom Come State Park, the Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park and the natural stone arches of Natural Bridge State Resort. Southern Kentucky Camping

Southern Kentucky is lake & cave country and is made up of two sub-regions. The Southern Lakes region is in the south central portion of the state and offers an abundant and diverse natural setting for your outdoor adventures. Enjoy fishing and boating, rafting and more in the calm, deep lakes, fed by roaring rivers, that lie below forested peaks in locations such as Big South Fork National River & Recreational Area, Dale Hollow, Green River Lake and General Burnside Island State Park. The Caves, Lakes, and Corvettes region will send you deep into the earth at Mammoth Cave National Park, Diamond Caverns, Crystal Onyx Cave, Hidden River Cave & American Cave Museum, Lost River Cave, the Jesse James hideout at Outlaw Cave, Cub Run Cave and Onyx Cave. Once you've emerged from your underground adventures, enjoy the fishing, boating, canoeing and water-skiing of Barren River Lake, Nolin Lake and Lake Malone.
